Sword Fetishist

First draft for a proof of concept concerning http://tgdmb.com/viewtopic.php?t=52785

Sword Fetishist

Sword Fetishists are warriors that specialize on using long bladed weapons like swords, sabres, scimitars or even greatswords. There is a whole philosophy behind this school that is deeply interwoven with the mysticisms of several gods of war. Sword Fetishists are known to be rather vocal about their beliefs and their love for their weapons, often gathering in circles and organisations sometimes powerful enough to influence kings. In some kingdoms swords – in contrast to other weapons – are even legally considered household items, and citizens may wear them proudly and openly even in times of peace.

Shadow of the Sword (Ex): If the Sword Fetishist is unarmed, he may summon a half-translucent, ghostly version of his preferred type of sword (chose at level 1) into his outstretched hand (a movement-equivalent action). The sword weighs as much as the real equivalent, deals force-damage, and is treated as a magic sword. An enemy can disarm the blade, causing it to dissipate and forcing the Sword Fetishist to summon it again.

Purging of the Sword (Ex): If a Sword Fetishist gets a new sword, he may hit a hard surface with it. This will turn a decrepit sword into a sword of normal attack, damage and durability, and a well-kept sword into a masterwork sword, until the Sword Fetishist stops handling the weapon.

Combat School: The Sword Fetishist automatically gets the (RoW) Combat School feat for any type of sword.

Blade Supremacy (Ex): Once per level, you can use a smithy to re-work any metal melee weapon into a type of sword roughly the same size as the original weapon. Weapons too small for that endeavour, like daggers, can't be re-worked.
The weapon keeps all enchantments as well as it's general style, and is still recognizable by anyone familiar with the original form. Aside from the general shape, the only thing that changes is the base weapon damage.
You can't re-work sentient and artifact weapons.

Cut Wave (Ex): Once per day and level, when wielding a sword, you can make a melee attack against an enemy in line of sight and within 300 feet. If your attack hits, you deal 1d10+10 damage per level (save halves).
If this attack kills the enemy or the enemy made a successful save, make a melee attack against the next enemy directly behind the target, as long as that enemy is within 300 feet of you. That enemy is dealt the damage not dealt to the first enemy / not needed to kill the first enemy. Repeat this procedure until the damage is spent or no other enemy is in range.
This attack also affects objects. It manifests as a slash of force energy roughly as long as your height.

  • What type of action is Shadow of the Sword? Move?
  • What type of action is Purging of the Sword? I would presume attack, but it's not clear
  • I would replace Blade Supremacy with some form of Swordsmithing
  • Is Cut Wave X/Day, where X is your level, or 1/level and no more than 1/day?
  • Is Cut Wave an attack action? Standard action? Full-round Action?
